IDEAS FOR A SUCCESSFUL SUMMER PARTY

Our memory is a mosaic made of many tiny pieces. We tie smells, colours, and funny things to every word - our brain connects them together and presents us with a recollection of vivid fragments, our happiest memories.

When I think of summer in the UK I envision a sunny day in the park - a blanket laying on the grass, grilling food on the BBQ and a refreshing drink on hand. British summer is as good as it is rare and it’s our “duty” to make the most of them.

Whether you’re planning a BBQ party in your back garden or a get-together in the park, we can help you plan a successful day, full of fun games and tasty food - the perfect combo!

Here are our favourite BBQ purchases for Summer 2020

1. The first step to a tasty BBQ party is, indeed, a good barbecue set. Fear not - there’s no need to splurge on a stainless steal ginormous bbq complete with a mahogany table, this medium sized barbecue will satisfy your tastebuds and pockets.

Make grilling fun by involving your guests in sprinkling salt on food Nusret Gökçe’s style and start the new “salt-bae” competition.

2. If you’re a picnic fanatic then you need a picnic set! Save yourself from buying plastic cups and eating from the packets and lay out a proper old-school picnic. You don’t have to whip out your mum’s basket with precious ceramic plates. This bag with cooling compartment comes with all you might need for an outdoor meal: glasses, knives, plates, forks and a handy bottle opener (bet I didn’t even cross your mind to bring it)!

3. My summer childhood memory brims with flashbacks of me and my mum playing badminton in the garden. I preferred it to tennis as I could at least lift the racket without going double handed and it made it a little less dangerous when you accidentally hit someone (my brother). A kid-friendly game perfect for a party!

4. Another great British favourite is rounders. Ideal for “rounding” up your guests and engaging them in a fun, competitive game to burn off all the grilled goods or as an apres-meal to get everyone rumbling and excited for food!

5. Does your party need a little help loosening up? Twister might do just the job. Twister brings in light exercise and stretching in a fun way. Warning - it may cause hysterical laughter… and a few cramps, so make sure you warm up before you start twisting!

6. If you’re someone who likes a challenge, a giant Jenga game might be right up your street. The classic block-stacking, stack-crashing game will not only test your structural engineering skills but  also have you challenging the laws of gravity themselves. You can't beat the amount of fun and suspense that this timeless game delivers!

7. One thing is certain, everyone has played frisbee at least once in their lives, even our dogs have tossed one. Wether you’re just playing with another person, another ten people or its you and your pooch, it will be sure to bring fun and enthusiasm to the field, as well as reliving happy childhood memories!

8. Another great game that takes me back to when I was ten playing on the sandy beach, is boule. If you’re not familiar with it  the objective is to throw or roll heavy balls as close as possible to a small target ball called “Jack”. Of course it can also be played on grass - it might actually be easier. I think of it as an outdoor, portable bowling ally where you can channel some of that classic Big Smoke competitiveness!

9. You don’t have to go to Wonderland to play croquet like Alice - you can do so from the comfort of your garden, and with proper mallets! Your chance to show Alice and your friends some skills and score some points!

10. What’s better then BBQ and rugby to tempt the boys? Even without a massive space it can be a fun game to play with kids and adults - just go easy on the tackles! It brings excitement, fun and  a good level cardio to the turf!
